The subject gazes along the horizon and seems to be indicating on the globe his next travel destination. If we analyse how the contours of the various elements of this painting are interlinked, we notice that this is done with geometric simplicity and order. This geometry, however, is one that does not "prick", does not "injure"; it does not show itself overtly, but shapes the composition discreetly, without disturbing the naturalistic appearance of the subject.
